An item I bought about a week ago was delivered to my local Argos last Friday at 10:07am by Royal Mail Tracked 48. It is now four days later and I have not received a collection code. My ebay account still says, "Your order is being prepared". I'm pretty sure I've not had to wait this long to receive a collection code for a click & collect order.
Is it possible that the seller omitted the eCP reference in the address, or the eCP reference is illegible? I understand that if I contact ebay, they can provide me with a collection code. Should I get in touch with ebay? Alternatively, I'm going to Argos tomorrow to collect another parcel I do have a collection code for. Could I show the Argos staff the order details page on my phone (with the eCP reference) along with the Royal Mail proof of delivery photo, and see if they can find my parcel?
I don't want the parcel to be returned to the seller, and I now have only three days in which to resolve this problem.

You only have 7 days from being notified the item is in store, to collect your item, so you do need to act fast.
If the collection code is not with your order details, contact eBay Customer Services, they will provide this code for you.
To Contact Customer Services it's a Live Chat, or you can select to speak and request a Call Back. Click on this link:

You are not speaking to eBay here, but to members just like yourself.
However, you do need to speak to eBay Customer Services, as they can provide that essential code you will need to pick up your item from the store. Be aware, you only have 7 days to pick up your item, after being notified that it is in store.
This is the easiest and quicket way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.

9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.
I recommend contacting CS very first thing in the morning, when the lines first open, as there's more chance of Dublin answering.

if the code is not there it is not my job as i am not paid to do this to retrieve codes
if i get no code
the seller did this deliberately to mess me around
it will stay at agos till it goes back to the seller then i will trash his feedback simple

Nooo, don't do that, if you don't pick it up, the store does not have to send it back to the seller, that is one option for them, but personally I think as they are allowed to dispose of the item anyway they wish, it's easier and quicker for them to do so.
If you do not pick your item up within 7 days you'll lose your item and the money, leaving bad feedback won't help, as you did not carry out Click and Collect rules to pick up the item within the allotted time. That feedback could be removed.
Truly, it's a few click to CS, early in the morning you'll get Dublin and a quick answer. Get the code, and you will be able to receive your item as long as 7 days haven't lapsed.

If the seller didn't put the ecp code on the parcel, then yes any problems are their fault, but sometimes the seller does everything right and ebay or the collection point mess up.
In most cases collection codes can be obtained by contacting ebay.
Be very sure where the blame lies before trashing the seller's feedback.

I stopped using the click collect at certain shops as it was the lazy shop staff couldn't be bothered to scan the item when it came in so ebay didn't know it was there for collection.
Spent hours on the chat bot thing trying to get a collection code (tracker showed item delivered to collection point) for around 7/10 items.
Who needs the grief for a few poxy parcels!
