New search format on mobile devices - its appallingly bad!

Has anyone else been presented with a new display when searching for products? I'm using an iPad, so other devices may differ.

Previously, I would enter a search term and then be presented with a grid of results that were easy to glance through to see if I could find what I want. Today, I have input a search term and been presented with a single listing taking up 90% of my screen with all other results on a tiny sidebar that has to be scrolled through.

Evidently, eBay have decided that you should ONLY look at listings with paid promotion, so they whack one practically full screen and make everything else impossible to navigate. I've looked to see if the view can be changed, but have failed to find an option.

it is the most stupid, non user friendly change I have ever seen on eBay and if they stick with it, I suspect their revenues will collapse, as I certainly don't have the patience to scroll through a tiny side bar to find what I want. Upshot of my experience is that I bought elsewhere.

I often wonder if they're trying to deliberately ruin the platform, as very little they do seems to benefit users...

Hi, yes it's like some of the "out of touch with ordinary people" government employees are moonlighting at Ebay offices. Have Ebay employees ever bought or sold on Ebay themselves - it certainly doesn't appear so!

The view of eBay on my mobile is so bad, I'm thinking of giving up on it.  If I can't see it because the text is so small, then what's the point in continuing.

New search format on mobile devices - its appallingly bad!

I only started having this issue on Boxing day. I'm not using a mobile device, just a regular PC and it doesn't allow me to scroll AT all. If I want to buy something, it has to be done as a seperate checkout, rather than scrolling through and buying things together in one go. I hope they fix this issue soon, or come up with an option to switch to classic view for non mobile users. I don't know how this looks on a mobile but the large bars with three dots, large < > symbols and HUGE images that take FOREVER to load, you literally have to scroll down to the bottom to find the Add To Basket, Buy Now etc buttons and with the Candy sellers, pressing the pics don't work, hovering the mouse over the txt with large ticks do nothing, meaning you have to go back to your previous order and select: buy again. This means I cannot select anything new. It's a nightmare. It's happened once before but went back to normal a few days later. I hope this is the same in a few days.

What browser are you using? Latest version?

Any difference if you use another browser?

I have not noticed any problems scrolling using the latest version of Firefox on a Windows 10 PC.

It IS the latest version of Firefox, it updates regularly automatically as
does Win
10. This has happened before where the format has just screwed itself up. I
hope
they fix the fault soon.

Hi aranea13, I think the issues you describe are different from those discussed in this thread.  Even so, eburtonlab has made valid points toward trying to help you.  Also worth clarifying that you say you “cannot scroll at all” and then say you “have to scroll to the end to add to basket” - the scroll bars are usually part of the browser program, not the website visited within the browser page.  But more to the point, you frequently refer to huge images, large bars, large symbols, large ticks - have you checked the zoom percentage on your browser?  If you (or someone else using your pc) has changed this to enlarge something whilst viewing another site, you may need to reset this back to 100% (or less, depending on your usual settings).

Even so, trying another browser will provide additional information that can help you. Even if that does not solve your problem, it may point to a solution.

If they had, everything on the internet would be huge and this problem was
only on Ebay. Also I don't have another browser at the moment. Firefox has
been working fine for years and only has this issue on Ebay, absolutely
nowhere else has any type of formatting issue. It is difficult to buy also
because you cannot choose anything new, you can only buy something you
bought before and hope that the page will finish loading for you to find
the tab that says *add to basket*. Since these issues only started on
Boxing Day, I'm hoping they are temporary.

Hi aranea13, I think the issues you describe are different from those discussed in this thread.  Even so, eburtonlab has made valid points toward trying to help you - Google Chrome is free to download and install, whilst Microsoft Edge is usually installed by default on most PCs.  I have both Chrome and Firefox on my PC and find that they can respond differently for the same website, usually due to add-ons such as ad- or pop-up blockers.  eburtonlab's advice to alternatives is very sound.  However, if you are certain that the problem is solely with eBay then you may be more successful receiving a relevant solution if you open a *new* discussion/topic specifically for your particular question.

You can download a new browser in a minute or two, depending on the speed of your connection:

If pages load better in another browser, try clearing your browser cache in Firefox.
