Not certain but depending on how much the items you want to buy normally are, the BPF could have priced the sellers that were here out of the game.
The BPF only directly hits Private Sellers though, so it depends whether any Business Sellers deal in what you want.
Something that would have cost £1 before now costs £1.80 ish, so either the buyers accept that, the seller tries to absorb that or the sellers sell elsewhere.

I’m trying to buy from business sellers. What is BPF?

Buyer Protection Fee, a new way for eBay to earn money
Buyer pays 4% of item & postage value +0.75p on top of the price the private seller asks for.
eBay take all the extra.

Crazy, I’m pretty sure that’s not the issue here as they are all business sellers I’m trying to buy from. One agent I spoke to let slip it’s was because the item was a “semiconductor” and that’s restricted. It’s true it’s a semiconductor, a diode for hobby electronics use. im guessing some over eager AI type software does not like the words in the item listing and has “banned” it for want of a better word.
id sure hate to run a business relying on eBay nowadays

We are all members like you; nothing to do with operating eBay!
Very strange - I searched for "diodes" and literally thousands came up in great strips from business suppliers.
As long as you're not in weird countries [now including USA I'd guess] I cannot see the problem. @stuarmarti-3
I have 12 sitting in a drawer for a planned model railway. I must get on ...

Can’t see the problem either, I can also search and see hundreds of them, it just won’t let me buy them I get this checkout error. I’m in the UK trying to buy from UK based sellers.
the whole thing is bizarre

Bizarre indeed! Of course if it's a UK business seller there will be a contact on his selling page including a telephone number.
Ring-ring?

I am also having this problem. Private seller in the UK to the UK, hobby electronics. When I try to pay for the item I am restricted due to the location. I contacted the seller who confirmed there should not be a restriction but I was not able to buy it. I tried a different browser and different device with no resolution.

Do you suppose this has something to do with sanctions against the " beast from the East " and the supply of electronics that could aid his invasion? ( Ebay has then got its wires crossed as per usual )

Worth double-checking that the seller/s are UK sellers.
Click on their Ebay ID & then click the 'About' tab to check the country the account is registered in - this can be different to the item location of the diode listing. Also check their return / business address at the bottom of the listing page.
There is also a reoccuring glitch between UK buyers & sellers that seems to come up every now & again!
