A month ago I bought an item which was supposed to be delivered by In-post.
After receiving tracking for a few days the item disappeared mid transit.
The seller contacted In-post to be told that eBay need to be contacted to give them permission to launch an enquiry.
I really wanted my parcel found rather than a refund as the contents were impossible to replace.
EBay was contacted as requested who automatically issued a refund. They did not contact In-Post about looking for the package even though we asked, so my package is still missing with no attempt by anyone to find it.
Next I tried to get compensation off In-post for them losing the package to be told again to contact eBay as they need to authorise this.
I contacted eBay who says they have nothing to do with locating parcels or compensation claims it as In-post are in charge of shipping!
I’m going round in circles.
Has anyone heard of this, apparently as EBay was in charge of arranging the delivery they are in a contract with In-post and everything has to be done through EBay? Seems like In-Post are just pulling a fast one to me?

Items do go missing in the post sometimes. It could be that the label came off or was damaged, in which case you will never recieve it. You have been refunded so as far as ebay is concerned the matter is now closed. You also can not claim compensation as you have already been refunded. If the seller had a return address on it then there is a small chance it may find its way back to them eventually.

Hi
I have exactly same problem with inpost. Seems like they use this bull*bleep* about ebay authorisation as a shield . They trying to avoid responsibility in this way.as they know ebay has nothing to do with it.
Can I ask did you get somewhere with your problem?

It's the seller who should be doing this, your contract is with them , their contraqct is with the either ebay ( if using ebay postal ) or directly with the parcel provider. it is not up to the buyer to sort this with the 3rd party.
