Evri have lost/mislaid/failed to deliver, pick any option, 3 eBay purchases I made this month. I'm waiting on eBay to refund but they are making me wait an extra ten days, I presume to see if they turn up. How is this system better for the buyer. Previously I would receive a refund for a failed delivery weeks earlier than under the new system. Absolute madness.

Interesting to read how INR cases are handled by eBay under Simple Delivery, that doesn't seem better than opening a case with a seller under the MBG?
Sorry to hijack your thread, I'm usually on the seller boards but now I might not bother buying either. I hope your parcels do turn up.

Under the old system (existing system for business sellers) the seller had 3 working days to resolve an INR. However, if there were any tracking updates in that time to show that the item was still making progress in transit, then when the case was escalated to eBay, eBay Customer Services would normally put a further 10 day wait on the case to see if item then arrived.
So a 10 day hold isn't a new thing. I have raised one INR as a buyer from a private seller under Simple Delivery and that was refunded the day I raised it - though I had waited a bit over 2 weeks to raise the INR.
As eBay seem to be very keen to use cheap couriers (Evri etc.) under Simple Delivery, the obvious consequence to me is that those couriers are slower and have more delays. So presumably eBay have decided on behalf of buyers that everybody is OK with that.

Thank you that makes sense.
I think I have been very lucky as a seller, since 2003 I've only had a handful of parcels go astray and in most cases a buyer is happy to wait a couple more days in the hopes it will arrive. Most buyers want the item rather than a refund. I always wonder about a buyer who instantly wants a refund.
The first missing item I refunded (about 20 years ago) I wrote off because it was an ornament from my late mothers house and not particularly valuable. Royal Mail returned it to me 4 months later. I relisted and the same lady bought it and was happy eventually.

With "Most buyers want the item rather than a refund." it will take a further seven days before Ebay will step in if nothing is resolved. I am surprised that it takes 10 days (?) for a refund. Add that to the average 12 days Evri takes to deliver anything (my experience,) is just disgusting. What is more disgusting is how these sales are often advertised as 2-3 day deliveries.
