Complete your purchase (that you didn't purchase)

IMG_1048.jpeg

Wow. So this isn't the first time this has happened to me.

I've been prompted to buy something that I never planned on buying. I may have viewed it several times and I may have put it on my Watchlist but it's never sat in my basket. This sly activity comes with a little Complete Your Purchase banner making it look legit.

Worse still is that I've been looking at these products (Talisman 3rd edition) and this could be very confusing and trick the buyer into purchasing something they don't want because it's similar to something they were interested in. Very muddling experience.

Is there any way to disable this feature?

Ah, I sometimes get..... 'carry on where you left off! 😀'    (imagine it being said in a sickening, smiley 'advert' voice. 🤢 )

Erm, no thank you. I 'left off' because I don't want to buy it.

I really loath some of the 'psychological' advertising attempts that appear. I find it extremely insulting that they think we are stupid enough to fall for them.

(unfortunately, no, I don't think we can turn any of this garbage off, no matter how many options to 'turn off' various communication preferences there are.  ☹️ )

I also loathe how poorly worded it is: it's not 'yours' and it's not a 'purchase' (yet).

It seems like the imprecision would prey upon those new to eBay, those who are not as computer savvy, and also vulnerable or differently abled Buyers.

"those new to eBay, those who are not as computer savvy, and also vulnerable or differently abled Buyers."

It's a despicable way of making money from people such as these.  But as we know, regrettably there is nothing that ebay won't do to fund its greed.
