Bid increments from private sellers with added buyers protection fee.

How do you work out bid increments now with the addition of the buyers protection fee from private sellers. You can no longer just add straight pounds and I keep getting outbid by just a few pence.

You can't know what the actual bid was - say you bid £40, the winning bidder might well have bid £63 but their winning bid would still only be a little more than your maximum.

The best advice is the old advice, bid the maximum amount you are prepared to pay.
