Hi, I intend to buy a big item (electric piano). Most sellers only arrange local collection. However, I cannot collect it in person. Is there any service provider in the UK who can do it for me and deliver the item to my home? Any recommendation? Thank you for your help.
these are the UK boards and you are in Hong Kong, best log into - https://www.ebay.com.hk/
Hi
I think you are misunderstanding.
When a seller lists an item as collection in person that means YOU as the buyer has to collect in person. It does not mean that you can send a Courier or someone else to collect it on your behalf. Most Sellers who list collection only items prefer cash on collection....although strictly speaking they cannot refuse Paypal for an electric piano. Please do not assume that the seller will be ok with you sending a Courier to collect because personally i would not.
Also bear in mind that if you send a Courier or similar company to collect then you lose your rights under Ebays Money Back Guarantee.
Find another Piano you could Collect Locally.
I'm sure there are, but by arranging your own courier, you lose all buyer protection.
And I doubt the seller will agree to it, or even arrange his own courier, as that would involve him having to securely package the piano for transit (which would cost a great deal for such an item), and wait in all day for the courier to arrive. The reason sellers list large items for personal collection only is to avoid all this hassle. You can always ask the seller to see what they say, but be prepared for a resounding 'no'.
But if they agree, be prepared to wait for up to 6 months for receipt, due to current international Customs and delivery delays.
If an item is listed for collection only you need to ask the seller's agreement before sending a courier to collect it.
You should be aware that unless you collect it in person there will be no buyer protection if it turns out not to be as described.
You should also offer to pay the seller by some other method than PayPal, as many sellers have been defrauded by a simple chargeback scam when items paid for by PayPal are collected.
Please remember that eBay is a complicated and risky place for both buyers and sellers. Both parties need to understand each other's need to protect themselves.
You could run into Problems there as there is No Buyer Protection if you use a Third Party to Collect. A Piano could easily get damaged in Transit. The Seller would not be responsible for Packaging the Piano.
