Is this affecting all listings you look at, or just some of them?  eBay has been very glitchy recently, so that could be the reason why.  However, if you haven't already tried it then log out of eBay and log back in again using a different browser, as you may be able to get around the problem that way.  Just don't log in using Internet Explorer, as it no longer works properly with eBay and Microsoft have completely withdrawn all support for Internet Explorer.  I use Google Chrome whenever I log onto eBay and I can't say that I've experienced the problem that you describe.  Having said that, though, some site glitches don't affect all users, which can often create divided opinions among responders to these kind of posts as to how severe the problem is, or whether it is actually present at all.

In the event that you're using the app try logging on using a computer or a laptop, as eBay's app has been known to be very problematic.

Should neither of the two suggestions I've already made solve the problem then you could try doing what I do when I experience site glitches that get in the way of what I am trying to do.  Log off of eBay UK and log into www.ebay.com and have a look at the listings there.  Some listings don't show up internationally, so if you want to look at the listigs further add them to your Watch List before you log off of eBay UK, or alternatively access the listings via the Recently Viewed Items option.  The prices will all show up in US Dollars as opposed to Pounds Sterling, but apart from that everything else will show up pretty much the same as on eBay UK, with the exception of some differences in spelling and terminology when comparing American English and British English, but other than that you should find that the American site is, for the most part, the same as eBay UK and if the reason why you cannot view the item descriptions in the listings you're interested in is due to a glitch that is specifically affecting eBay UK then logging into an overseas eBay website ought to enable you to bypass this problem.
