What happens if I send an item to a click and collect store if the item isn't listed as being so?

I work during the day so I'm not at home when the postman delivers.

However, for some reason I notice about half of items on eBay are not adveristed/listed as being click and collect. When you go to pay for the items, the click and collect option is not there.

I am a bit puzzled about why this is the case, as I would have thought the click and collect process is handled and processed through eBay and so isn't any extra cost or burden to the seller. I know on my listings, the click and collect option is there and I didn't do anything, it is just there by default.

I have bid on some items but have just relaised the click and collect option isn't avilable.

I am wondering, what will happen If when I pay, I change the postage address to the click and collect store I normally use and copy/paste the ecp code from one of my previous purchases? In theory, it should work fine as the person behind the counter will just see that the extra package belongs to me as it will have my name on it as well as the same ecp/fm code which I have saved on my phone as proof of purchase.

My only concern is I won't get a notifaction from eBay when my item arrives, so I will have to go in and ask if a package has arrived for me.

you can't just put the click & collect store address if the seller isn't offering click & collect!

when a sale is made using click & collect a code is issued for each sale and when the item arrives at the store they use the code to generate the notice to the buyer that the item is ready to collect,

any item that arrives without the code is sent straight back to the seller or just disposed of, you can't just go in and ask if they've received a package for you!

I am baffled to think you are puzzled as to why the C&C is not available?

ALL the standalone stores are now CLOSED!,,,,

I am even more confused to think that you would consider copy & paste an address to a store you normally use!

no, you won't get notification from eBay, you will also, loose your money and item....

life is NOT carrying on as normal during LOCKDOWN...

scroll down to eBay announcements to read all about C&C.....

That doesn't matter as all mail is still being delivered and doesn't require a signtaure, the posmtan signs on your behalf.

If you do that you'll lose your item. The store you've selected won't be accepting C&C items or it would show as being available.

Any code you have relating to a previous purchase relates to that previous purchase.

sellers can opt out of click & collect, they don't have to offer it on their listings

and during the current crisis with stand alone click & collect stores closed, a lot of sellers who normally offer it, have removed the option from their listings

Why anyone would want to offer or use this service particularly at the present time. There were enough problems with it before the virus and the service certainly hasn't improved.

Have you noticed the GREEN box at the top of the page, read it. All latest updates from ebay are there.
