It is important to check the details, description and contact seller if any doubt before buying. In case, you still buy the item in error, then the best option is to contact the seller right away.

Business sellers have their contact details in their profile, so you can contact them by call too if number is available or for other sellers you can use eBay messages.

Now there can be 2 situations:

1. You haven't paid yet:

Here as you haven't paid, you can ask the seller to cancel the order. Most of the seller's are really friendly. In case the seller is not helpful or responsive, then is not much you or customer service can do. CS cannot cancel the order without seller's permission due to GDPR.

So in such situation, you can leave the order as it is. You will receive system generated pay now reminders, but you can ignore them. After 30 days the order gets expired and you won't be asked or be able to pay. You can also hide in case you feel that you will pay by mistake.

In case the seller opens, any unpaid item case, then you can wait for the case to be closed against you. Once the case is closed, you will receive an email. You can either appeal from that email or contact CS for the removal of unpaid item record. Many times they are helpful.

2. You have paid

Process is similar as above. Seller can cancel and refund you. If they are not helpful, you can open a PayPal dispute right away to get the refund (as you can open eBay claim after estimated date of delivery by yourself) or contact CS and check if they can provide any help.

Contact the seller and ask if they mind cancelling.   If they are business sellers they're supposed to accept "change of mind" cancellations.   Even private sellers often will if asked.
