Seller wants code to refund my payment to PayPal for a FREEZER bought on C.O.D.

Hi Ebay

I purchased a Freezer on eBay and paid for it by PayPal:  Then I had a phonecall from the SELLER saying they wanted to sell

the freezer CASH ON DELIVERY (her address is near to where i live).  When she contacted PayPal they told her to get a code from eBay for the amount I paid to PayPal - in other words to refund my payment.  Please eBay could you facilitate this asap?

Thankyou

Regards

If you pay cash on a collection item and then have it delivered you have no claim under the MBG.

And as a freezer should be left unplugged after moving, and then plugged in for a hour or so to drop the inner temp you don't even know if it's working okay for a few hours after your seller has gone down the road.

To be fully covered under the eBay MBG you pay via PayPal and you collect

It is never a good idea to pay for big items that need collecting by paypal it ties your money up if the seller is not accurate in their listing, if you use cash for this type of item you can inspect carefuly and walk away if not satisfied it works ect.

The code is not needed for a refund it is to prove collection/delivery of items advertised as cash on collection.
Do Not give it until item is acceptable and payed for.

If the seller did not advertise collection only or you are not using the app then it is possible you wont have a code to give them anyway but you need to check the winning confirmation email.

If you are using the garbage app you may have a QR code which seller can scan if they use the app also, with code or QR they can be sure of payment and collection of item being officialy recorded.

As USUAL EBAY has made a farce out of this.

Morning Diane,

Getting a code from ebay is a new one on me, but i can`t say for 100% they are`nt right, but i do doubt it.

All the seller has to do is go to paypal and just refund the payment, simple as that, then deliver the item and get paid. Anything i`ve ever sold as collection only and been paid via paypal, i`ve just refunded and the buyer has always been happy to pay cash on collection. Technically a seller can`t refuse it, but as long as your both happy, it`s fine.

Make sure the fridge freezer is working before you pay for it, because if it is`nt, you`ll just end up with a load of aggrovation afterwards. if they deliver it on it`s back, your supposed to leave them up-right before switching them on, but if he`s local, it should be ok 🙂
