Seller deleted his account after I purchased the item and has taken my money, PayPal closed the case

Hi everyone, i've had this issue where i purchased an iPad. I paid for it and shortly after the seller deleted their account, the account went from pounds to Australian Dollars when shown on the paypal transaction which i thought was suspicious initially before the account was deleted. So i opened a claim through paypal to try and cancel the transaction but they closed my case as i mistakingly chose the wrong section and deemed it unauthorised transaction so they said i wasn't eligable to buyers protection. PayPal said i could open a case with eBay, but as i go onto ebay they said i couldn't as i already opened one with PayPal. Was a lot of money and i'm pretty worried about it 😬. Thanks for your time!

follow the advice and try your card provider but you might have problems as PayPal will have your account flagged as you originally claimed unauthorised transaction.

Sellers can't delete their accounts while they have ongoing transactions, for obvious reasons. Ebay will have closed the account for the seller breaching the rules in some way.

Unauthorised Account Use claims are for when you suspect your account has been hacked or otherwise fraudulently used. That wasn't the case here, obviously. You should have opened an Item Not Received case in PayPal. Do that now (scroll right down, past the bit that encourages you to go back to Ebay, and open a case).

If you find you're unable to do that for some reason, how di you pay...? If by card, lodge a claim for Item Not Received with your card provider.

eBay will have suspended the scam seller's account but they're not very helpful to the buyers.  Ring Paypal via their contact link and press them to help you.  Or if you used your card with Paypal ring your card provider and see if they will help.
