I've recently had an issue with a seller, the seller has best offer on the item and so I sent a message asking if they'd accept an amount for just one of the two items in the listing. The sellers response was rude and curt ending in lots of exclamation marks and saying 'not worth it' I offered £6 for an item listed as 13£ for two. Was happy to go higher but he didn't give me a chance, as then when I decided I'd just buy the two items I've found I've been blocked. This is bad customer service for a seller, he could've made a sale. I have 100% feedback I sell and buy things. I'm a private seller. I would never react so abruptly or rude to an potential buyer. And for no reason block them. This seller is supposedly high rated good feedback. I can't work this out with the attitude I received how. There needs to be a way for buyers to block sellers and also ebay should let blocked users know why they have been blocked and explain their side with evidence. Using seller report is only for extreme cases or if a transaction has happened and needs resolving. So what can we do to make sure buyers are treated with respect by sellers? And vice versa, sellers don't deserve uncourteous behaviour. Potential buyers should be made aware of sellers with nasty attitudes. Customer service is still the key rule of selling.
Potential buyers should be made aware of sellers with nasty attitudes.
EBay used to include a link in every listing to report abusive content. They removed it years ago.
I think they've given up on the endless torrent of insults and abuse betweel their millions of members.
Just be grateful that this seller's response warned you about his attitude.
His own foolishness has now lost him a buyer.
you wanted the seller to break up his listing and sell you part of it,
the seller didn't want the added work involved in doing this
from experience buyers who make these sort of offers can be problematic, so rather than risk you buying both then finding fault in one item to force a partial refund back to the original offer price, he blocked you from buying from him.
sellers are allowed to do this, they can choose who they want to sell to, ebay cannot overide this
and as it isn't against any rule, there is nothing to report to ebay
Do you really think ebay would seriously consider excluding a particular seller's items from your searches.
If you want to do that every time you search you can set it up yourself each time you search by using Advanced Search.
Thereis no excuse from rudness by buyers or sellers, it is becoming all too common now and of course ebay does not help by having removed the facility to report messages.
Whenever a problem gets bad and and ebay can't cope, they remove the service rather than coming down hard on the few who abuse the system and setting an example.
