Not a very wise thing to do. You should have asked for a refund, that woud have closed the case and thenyou could order again.

Now you are stuck with returning something you can't rerurn, a fake tracking number and a seller who now won't want to know.

Every listing has the Money Back Guarantee top right. You don't get a refund by closing cases, or opening the wrong sort of case or entering fake details.

Done properly it works fine, and you can ask ebay to step in if seller ignores your case, but you can hardly tell ebay what you have done now.

I am afraid that there is nothing you can do, if seller did not want item back he could have refunded then, agreeing to a replacement with no means of enforcing it was a bad mistake.

If you still have the item the seller sent you then you could open an Item Not As Described case via PayPal in order to get your money back, as PayPal allow buyers one hundred and eighty days during which to open a case against a seller.  However, if you've thrown the item away and you are asked to return the item to the seller then you're pretty much stuck.  You certainly haven't done yourself any favours by entering a bent tracking number in relation to the eBay case - if PayPal were to ask what the tracking number was and they found out that it was a bent number then they may well think that you're just trying to pull a fast one.  However, you've got nothing to lose by trying, but if PayPal ask for further details about the item, such as what you've done with the item, etc, just tell the truth and you may stand some chance of being able to get your money back.

In the event that PayPal seem to be willing to consider the case and the seller tries to persuade you to close the case in order to get your refund - or for any other reason - ignore his requests and escalate the case to PayPal to make a decision on after two days, and no later than the twenty day cut-off point.  If you do that then you may be able to get your money back, although given that you've got nothing to return to the seller and you've already supplied him with a bent tracking number then you may well have compromised your chances of being able to get a refund via PayPal.  At the very least, you've certainly made things a whole lot harder for yourself.

Although it's unlikely to be of little use (if any) in relation to this case, if you get stuck with regards to any other aspect of buying or selling on eBay and you feel like you could really do with some advice then come to these forums and post a query on the appropriate board.  That way you're more than likely to get the correct advice that you need in order to resolve the problem.
