I bought an item which was not as described. The seller agreed to refund me and I posted it back. In the meantime, Ebay sent me a printable returns label which I haven't printed out because I don't need it. Ebay is now telling me that they will close my case and is reminding me to print the label out. How do I tell them that I don't need the label - that the item is already returned.
In addition to the advice already given in relation to your query, if you posted the item via an untracked means of postage then unless your seller is honest and refunds your money upon receipt of the item you could end up finding that the seller may well deny receipt of the item. If you did return the item via an untracked means of postage then if the seller claimed that he'd never received the item back again it would be extremely difficult to get a refund, as eBay would more than likely close the case in the seller's favour owing to the fact that you were supplied with a prepaid label to use in order to return the item to the seller via a tracked means of postage but did not actually use the label.
If you did return the item to the seller via a tracked means of postage then follow the advice given in the original reply to your query and you should end up receiving a refund if the tracking details prove attempted or successful delivery of the item back to the seller. Hopefully the seller will refund your money voluntarily and you won't have to escalate the case to eBay in order to force a refund, but even if he does refund your money voluntarily whether or not he refunds your own returns postage costs is up to him, as he already supplied a prepaid returns label so that you could return the item to him but you did not print it off and make use of it.
Should the seller become awkward for some reason and doesn't refund your money voluntarily then if you have tracking to prove attempted or successful delivery of the item back to the seller escalate the case to eBay as soon as you are given the chance to do so. eBay will then force a refund of the amount that you paid for the item, inclusive of the postage costs that you paid to the seller. However, they will not reimburse your return postage costs as the seller supplied you with a prepaid returns label for this very purpose but you didn't use it and instead paid for your own return postage.
You need to contact ebay and ask them to change the tracking on the case to the one on the postage you bought. You can use live chat at the bottom of this:
