I need to talk to someone at ebay concerning a refund. Options listed on the help? page sends me round in circles. I have phoned 2 numbers in the USA found on line but they just send me back to the help? page. Advice please.

Like most businesses, Ebay aren't currently able to accept phone calls, due to pandemic staff shortages. It's Live Chat or Request-a-Callback. And Ebay CS is based in The Philippines (and Dublin if you're lucky). So as you're in the UK, I'm not sure why you're trying to call US numbers...?

In any case, there is nothing that a buyer needs to call Ebay for, as everything you need to know is in the Help & Contact pages, and the entire refund system is automated. If something has gone wrong with a purchase, just read the Money Back Guarantee and follow the instructions to get a refund. It's on every listing, and in various other places across the site. You also have the More Actions dropdown beside each transaction on your Purchase History page, and the Resolution Centre (link at foot of any page) to refer to.

If you've already opened a case or return request, please provide more information as to why you have a refund query, and someone will be happy to advise.

I called the US number s It was the only one I could find.
My problem is this. I purchased a tablet from a Chinese company on 20th May. The item location was stated as London and as it was delivered on 28th May, proving it was in the UK.
I was then given a tablet and requested to return the one I had bought. This was agreed by the seller, but the address I was given was in China, and written in Chinese, which I obviously could not use. I repeatedly requested an address in the UK but this was never provided. I was then offered a compensation of £20, but could keep the tablet. This is a copy of the final email I received

As I said in my last email, the address I have been given is in China. I require a UK ADDRESS. in English.

I have now received an email from ebay stating that if I do not return the the tablet by today, 2nd July, I will not receive the refund. This why I need to speak to ebay, as the automated system does not cater for my problem

Geoff, the best thing to do, is go to the help & contact link at the top of the screen and go through all the options till you get an option for you to either ring them or they ring you. They have been struggling with staff to answer calls of late and i`m not sure if this is still the case, but if they are, use chat.
if you do run out of time on ebay or the case gets closed, you can go to paypal and open a claim there, as you have 6 months with them. The downside with paypal though, is that you`ll have to return the item at your own cost, however, if their still running it, they have a scheme where you can claim this back once returned.
Regarding the issue with the fact it`s a chinese address they`ve given for the return, it doesn`t really matter where it goes back to, as long as it goes to the address given, your issue here is who covers the cost, because clearly, Ebays standard return label won`t cover a return to china, although given you bought it in the u.k, that`s where it should be returned 🙂
The address been given that`s in chinese, have you run it though Google translate to convert it to english?

Thank you for your assistance knight-rider. I have previously been through the Contact and Help maze and end at a dead end. I chose refund when asked for problem area, select the item (tablet), select status and am informed that the return has started and the only further option is ' Mark as dispatched' or go round in a circle again. This why I have been attempting to speak to someone. I have been a mainly satisfied member of ebay since 2002 and have a positive feedback currently of 2342. Previously when I had problems, which have been very few, I have been able to speak to someone. I find this all very frustrating. How can I speak to someone?
