Problem with an open case

Hey everyone,

We've had abit of an odd one, and would like some advice! We've ordered a item back on the 13th of december but still haven't recieved it, due to current events we expected a delay and a late present but waited until after christmas to message and opening a case. In fact we never recieved a notification on it being posted. on replying the business seller has apologised for the item going missing and has said they threw the tracking number away. We've agreed to him sending a replacement but he's insisting we close the case before he sends the item with multiple messages asking us to close it before he sends it.

just a quick edit, thank you to everyone for your messages! i am having another issue though as it's been over thirty days since my purcase, i'm unable to see a way to escalate the case. What would you guys reccomend?

what do you think i should do?

thanks everyone!

You have opened the case which is fine. Under no circumstances close the case as if you do that is the end of it.  Escalate the case to eBay now and go for a refund at all costs.

If ou get the money and if you trust the seller [and I probably wouldn't] then buy another.

There is no general delay for postage.  EBay has built in a few extra days but has no further relaxation.  You should open a case when that revised date is past.  Sellers who list but do not deliver on time will be sanctioned as before. As I am getting blue in the face telling I have probably ordered 100 items since March last year and without exception they have all arrived [every single one] within eBay's time frame.  Most arrive within the 24 and 48 hours on the label.  In one momentous case I ordered a jacket at 400pm on a Sunday and it arrived 1200 on the next day [not RM obviously].  My postie says it's easier as the roads are quiet and people are at home.
