Hi all,
I was hoping there would be a simple solution to this minor niggle of mine:
Every time I buy something on eBay I recieve a notification from eBay notifiying me of the purchase - I don't need this
I recieve an email notifying me ( 'order update' ) that the item has been dispatched - I don't need this
I recieve an email notifying me (if it's a tracked item) when the item will be delivered - this is useful, but not really necessary as the expected delivery date is very seldom correct.
I recieve an e-mail notifying me that the items been delivered - this is useful in the event it may have gone to the wrong person
I've looked through ALLLLLL of the options for managing communications in the eBay dashboard but I can't see any way of turning off the first three emails in the chain. I would rather not recieve these e-mails as it's annoying going through my e-mail inbox having to deleted them al without even opening them, and an annoying waste of time.
Infact, unwanted emails from eBay make up 75% of what I recieve.
Has anyone ever looked into this?
Is eBay aware that some of the e-mail notifications are unwanted communication that some users would like the option of being able to switch off?
Thanks a lot for any information
Quite a lot of communications are not sent directly by eBay but are sent by sellers as a matter of good customer service.
I always send a message that I have received payment and I always send a email on the day I send the item.
Sellers also can get marked down on the feedback scoring under communication if they don't communicate.
I've just had a look at my own settings to see if I could find a solution for you, and I did find something which might help to resolve the problem.
First of all, go back to your My eBay and click on the Account tab. From the various different options avialable under the Account Preferences heading click on the second to last option, which is the one that says "Communication Preferences." This will bring up the Communication Preferences page. Scroll down the page until you get to the section entitled "Buyer", then when the page opens it'll bring up a drop-down menu with a sub-heading which says "Buyer Activity."
Once the drop-down list appears on the screen scroll down the page until you see the options that say "Item Posted" and "Item Received." These will more than likely be defaulted to "Real-Time" - click on the "v" icon next to that and change it to the option that says "None." Once you have done this and your settings have been updated you shouldn't receive any unwanted e-mails from eBay relating to either of those two options.
Unfortunately I couldn't see an option to disable notifications regarding confirmation of delivery, but even if switching the default setting on the above two options results in e-mails relating to those options being unable to get through then at least it will reduce the aggravation of receiving unwanted e-mails to some extent.
