You will definitely pay a tax or taxes of some sort: You pay 20% VAT (if item and postage total less than £135), or VAT and import tax (on values of £135 plus), on all purchases made from outside the UK.
If less than £135, Ebay will add on and collect the VAT from you at checkout for onward transmission to the government. There will be nothing then to pay when the goods enter the country.
If £135 plus, you will be charged VAT and import tax when the goods enter the country, plus the carrier's admin fee for collecting the taxes on the government's behalf.
