I can't ask for a refund as I wrongly pressed the return button rather than the refund button any help? I can't contact Ebay either as their chats are not available and the phone number they provide is invalid.. any help please thank you!

There would be no point in contacting ebay as you only get one chance. Opening a return would have left you to return something you didn't have and as I said, you only get one case. Fortunately you can still use Paypal, but you must escalate by day 20 or that will close.

What if I didn't use Paypal to purchase the item but instead my own card..Should I contact my bank instead.

Sounds like you have bought from a Compromised Account and Ebay has shut it dowm. If the Item is not in your Purchase History open a Case with PayPal for Item Not Received. Log in and find Resolve a Problem down the left hand side. Escalate the Case after 2 days but before 20 days.

Add in the Notes that Ebay has Removed the Seller.
