Hi All,
Recently bought a set of wireless Bose headphones from a seller. Been having conectivity issues with them - So I assumed this would be either of my phones and filled for a return on the basis that it didn't fit.
Later I hear from the seller this is actually a known issue and that I should have known about it before buying and offered a gesture of good will of £10. The item price ws £200. As I opened a dispute on the basis that it did not fit I am apparently not covered for a return, even tough this was confirmed to be a technical issue with the product.
What shall I do in regards to this and why is ebay declining my right to appeal, when there is enough evidence on the form of messages exchanged between me and the seller? I was sugested to try the forums or a cashback - But this was not paid on a credit card, so i'm out of pocket there.
Any advice on how to deal with this or do I have to take the loss and a bitter learning expirience?
Sellers are not responsible for change of mind returns. And 'Does not fit' is a change of mind return.
The entire returns system is automated. It has to be, because of Ebay's vast size. If you don't properly use the tools that Ebay supplies, I'm afraid they can't help you. You get one chance per transaction. Closed returns can't be reopened, and you can't open another.
But all is not lost. You can open a Not As Described case in PayPal. The tracked return will be at your expense (PayPal can't supply postage labels) but check to see if you're eligible for PayPal's 'Returns on us' scheme. Do not close the case on a promise - as with Ebay, closed cases cannot be reopened, and you can't open another.
Make sure you return by a fully-insured and trackable service. And check too that the item isn't on the carrier's 'exclusion' list - not everything is insurable.
"filled for a return on the basis that it didn't fit."
That's your answer - you open a change of mind return instead of a not as described case, so a private seller can refuse.
