Anyone know why the collection QR code has been introduced?

I often buy items and go to collect them in person.

Sometimes I get sent a Collection QR Code, sometimes not.

The seller usually has no idea what to do or what it's for.

Can anyone explain why it's been introduced and what happens if the seller ignors it please?

Thanks Tony

this is a new system ebay has intoduced so sellers can mark items as collected

read about it here:-

https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/buying/postage-delivery/changing-delivery-address-method/local-pickup?id...

if you are the buyer it will be in your ebay messages,

if you are the seller the buyer is supposed to show you the code on their phone,

sellers can bypass the need for a code by using the full site, not the app

It can only be used when both parties are using the app - you use your mobile phones to swipe as collected at the point of collection. This information is in the Help pages, along with everything else you need to know about using Ebay, so check it out for yourself.

Here's info:

It's only for the app.   The seller can still mark as payment received and item dispatched on a PC or laptop.
