has any one else had this pop up ? i had the message today and i can't see an answer why i am being put up against the wall for this . i know its only 10 p more with royal mail but with some buyers being stingy and not being bothered if its tracked or not they wil just go out as 2 nd class .
i know ebay is trying to push tracking trough everywhere but than they should at least stop pushing costs up by not charging fees for business sellers on postage

Yes, we've had it too. But, all our items are sent via "Simple Delivery" and the tracking shows correctly on Ebay. Clicking on "Add tracking numbers" shows there are no items to dispatch, which is correct.
We've also had an email saying because of this, our payments will now be up to 72 hours after confirmed delivery unlike the current within 24 hours.
Assuming this is a technical issue but we've ended our listings anyway.
Sorry, just noticed you have a Business Account and ours is Private but it looks like the issue is happening across both account types.

My local Post Office is very friendly and knowledgeable. Even then, it took me about 6-months to believe them on this one, so passing the advice on:
When you buy 2nd Class and it is any Parcel, or Large Letter 250g or more, your Proof-of-Posting receipt has a Reference Number on it. This is a free tracking number. It is for Royal Mail's internal tracking, but is viewable on their website like a normal tracking number. You can enter it into eBay like any other Tracking. eBay also has access to RM internal system in case of late or INR queries. However Postie is not always great about scanning on delivery 🙄
The PO also let me know that 2nd Class is put to one side during busy periods (e.g. Christmas shopping) while the backlog of 1st Class, Priority, and Tracked 48 are cleared. So as Sellers head for a busy period, maybe best just to use Tracked 48, especially when the item is over £20 as T48 comes with £75 insurance.

I also got this message today, I also had to provide ID to ebay? It still says I need to provide tracking, but I have nothing outstanding and always use ebays simple delivery and prior to that would almost always use their pre-paid label anyway? I am hoping this is some sort of error?

Yes, me too, completely out of the blue and in the middle of the night. Then ten hours later, having done nothing, I got another message thanking me for resolving the (non-existant) open issues and telling me my selling priveliges have been restored. But, apparently, I now won't get paid until 72 hours after delivery is confirmed! That's going to work well seeing as most of what I sell are cheap untracked items. Currently waiting for a call back. Guessing it's just an excuse to hold onto money for as long as possible.
In between the two messages, they also sent my daily payout!

Just had a callback and apparently it's gone out to several accounts and is a mistake!

Same with us, received email to take action a 1.15 am, haven't been able to look into it so nothing was done/changed and received the same privileges have been restored email at 12.04pm.
Has anyone had any sort of confirmation? Is this a tech issue, an actual policy change?

Phone CS said it was a mistake and it'll go back to normal payouts.

Appreciated, nothing like them trying to ruin our day 😂

Did the text read as though it was AI generated or as though an actual human had written it?
I realise it can be hard to tell sometimes with eBay...

I do believe they like to keep sellers in a constant state of anguish.

Just this minute had another eBay message confirming it was sent in error, and no action is necessary 🤔

Could have been either tbh!
Also just received the "It was an error" message:
"Account Update - No Action Required
Hi xxx,
You may have recently noticed a message on your Seller Hub stating, "Your seller account is at risk" or received an email that asked you to "Take action now to avoid restrictions on your account".
We wanted to reassure you that there was no risk to your account and this was an error. This has now been rectified, and you do not need to take any action.
Regards
eBay"

It's just an odd message to even accidentally send out. I never upload tracking (even though I have it) and I didn't receive it.
At first I thought it was going to be a future policy and someone hit the "send" button prematurely. I now think eBay's AI was being taught something, got it spectacularly wrong then did something it wasn't supposed to.

I would hazard a guess its more than several accounts affected.
Maybe add 2-3 or more zero`s on that number

Oh, definitely. The fact that CS already knew about it when I got a callback and didn't even have to go and check points to it being a fairly sizeable error.

Several hours after the "sorry we made a mistake" message, I was still getting red warnings on my account about "unresolved issues". These have now disappeared with no action from me.
