Recently Parcelforce has merged (again) with Royal Mail.
Most of the parcels I send are longer than 60 cm so I had to use Parcelforce. Now that it no longer exists I sent a parcel, longer than 60 cm, by Royal Mail 48. As far as I can see, Royal Mail have not yet changed their rules but the PO did not object. Interestingly, the cost was significantly less than the Parcelforce charge.
There must be many other sellers for whom this is relevant.

The transition stage for the merger of the two networks doesn't officially begin until 11th August and as far as I'm aware there has been no announcement to say that the Royal Mail Tracked 48 and Parcelforce Express 48 services are to be combined.

I don't doubt what you say. But the PO staff told me that Parcelforce no longer exists as such, so I had to use Royal Mail instead. It is a proper PO, by the way, not just a PO counter in a shop.

Well, that is interesting. The intention is for both brand names to continue to be used and, from what I understand, it is only the network and website/account interfaces that are merging at this stage not the actual services offered so I don't why you were told that Parcelforce no longer exists.
(Note, I should have said in my previous post that the transition is due to conclude on the 11th August not that it begins on that date. Apologies.)
