new to business side of ebay

Hi all lots of question's

So i started back in 2023 around may time I'm a mature seller but not yet retired,

am currently a private seller wishing to take to the next level so here go's as i believe it to be and please correct me if i have a shop subscription £20.00 PCM i think then i get 250 free listings and any listings i already have will be listed each month without additional cost provided that they are relisted as is and not ended and relisted as a new listing and theres still no charg if i am in my 250 free listings PCM is that correct, any listings above 250 PCM are charged at 10p per listing.

If i create a Business account from my privat account can i chang my name to reflect on the new account

if not then can i chang my private account name then transfer it over without loosing my feedback ect.

My reason for going to a new level is, that was always my intention and if i had a business account i would of reached top rated.

and just one last thing typically how many items does the average seller have on there sites i know that this can vary from person to person, but i think that this might influence stock control.

Yes, you would lose the feedback that you have on your private account.

But at the same time, that feedback doesn't really apply to your business....

And what customers should be seeing, is how the business has handled it's various problems etc, that are reflected in feedback.  Also bear in mind, that the feedback may not necessarily reflect what you are selling as a business.  At the end of the day though, it shouldn't really matter that much, unless you have a LOT of feedback already.  It's fairly quick to gain it on Ebay anyway.

You definately should be using some sort of accounts package, though if your starting out, a spreadsheet will work.

However, once you understand the package you use, it will greatly simplify your accounts and you might want to look into something such as linkmybooks, to automatically move your sales info etc, into the accounts package.

I would strongly advise that you look at selling on other sites as well, don't restrict yourself just to Ebay.

Your shop subscription fee is plus vat, so don't forget to account for that.

Assuming that you have ticked all the boxes first, in that you have registered as self employed and have UTR etc, then you can just convert your current Ebay account to a business.  You just need to edit the details.

And yes, assuming that the name of the account isn't taken, then you should just be able to change it.

Do be aware, that you may well be better off having two separate accounts, one private and one business.
And not necessarily converting the account your using currently.

As to the subscription, whether a listing is ended/restarted or GTC, each time it is renewed, it counts towards your total usage for the shop.

Your last question however, if far too wide to be able to get a real answer to it.
Every seller/company etc is different and works in different ways.

But the short answer, is to keep enough stock on hand, to enable you to have sufficient time to reorder etc, before running out.

Thank you for your reply, if i set up another account for a business wont i just loose all the positive feed back frome my private account, i can however see the advantage of having two seperatr accounts. if i take the second option does that mean that i will have to build up the business from the ground up. and relist everything frome my lisings frome my private account. a clean start has it's advantages. I'm also thinking of using quick books to help keep track of the accounting and intragate it with ebay, thank you.

If you want a business acount to trade on, change your private account which has history and feedback. Open another private account for your own unwated items and try to buy low cost items which you need to start your feedback off.  You will need to have another e mail address for the new account.
