Yet another Royal Mail price increase

Royal Mail has announced it will hike the price of first-class stamps by 30p due to "very real and urgent" financial challenges.

The increase, which will kick in from 7 October, will see the price of a first-class stamp rise to £1.65p, while second-class stamps will remain at 85p.

Privatisation - the biggest confidence trick politicians have ever played on the British public.

The evidence is there for all to see, Rail, Water, Gas, Electric, BP, British Airways, Rolls Royce the list is endless, we once owned them all until Thatcher started flogging it all off to the city, and yet one of the biggest rip-offs of them all has been Royal Mail.

No one or two penny rises anymore, those days are long gone and last year alone we saw a 45% rise.

We have been conned once again by politicians.

To be TRS you can offer 2nd Class freepost, but you have to offer same day despatch to fulfil the 'delivery within 2-3 days' stipulation.

I'm TRS with 2nd freepost and same day despatch, but I set my cut-off time to 8am - this means that orders arriving after 8am don't have to be despatched until the following day.  I generally despatch all orders that arrive before 1pm on the same day, but setting an 8am cut-off gives me a little wriggle room.

Unfortunately, the early cut-off doesn't extend the EDD - the EDD is the same irrespective of whether the order arrives before or after 8am.  The EDD used to move on by a day at the cut-off time, but stopped doing this a couple of years ago.
