VAT mismatch

Anyone else who is VAT registered received an email from Ebay advising their VAT details are mismatche with HMRC . This happened 3 years ago and ebay admitted an error on their part back then .

Again , the same today and all details I have match so cannot understand the issue. Been given a 30 day period to rectify but not rectifiable as I see it.

Anyone experiencing the same / can offer help here as want to avoid the issues from three years ago. Thanks

VAT mismatch

Hello fellow sellers

Adding my thoughts to the ebay/VAT verification situations past and present.

The last time this happened, I was one of those who had all the listings ended, all the sales history lost. Once it was sorted out, everything started up again with a relist from ended listings. It was easy to do, and ebay did give me (and presumably others) a stack of promoted listing credits to use, which helped get sales back up to about the right level.

This time, whatever is going on, it's not just ebay. I sell on another platform as well. Over there, I got immediately kicked out of the VAT services on Monday 17th. Not warned. Not given 30 days notice. Straight out. I did manage to get the VAT verification issue resolved quickly, with a loss of a few days trading (I put the store in holiday mode) but no major harm done.

I have not had this latest ebay warning, but the fact rival selling platforms seem to be on high alert over VAT verification issues at almost the same time, suggests to me that this is not a case of ebay having done something to mess things up. It is most likely something happened higher up the VAT checking chain affecting all those using it to verify seller VAT.

VAT mismatch

Looks like this has been properly acknowledged by eBay including the VAT numbers not showing on listings.

Although we didnt experience 2022 this seems like a proper statement rather than a CS agent assuring you everything will be fine.

Lets see in a month if anything.
