Is anybody selling well?

In all my 16 years of being on here, I have never, ever known it so bad for selling. I’ve sold 2 items in a week. I get certain times a year when sales are poor, when the weather is good etc, but this is the run up until Xmas.

is there anybody on here doing well or making a reasonable amount of sales.

It can’t all be bad for everyone…can it?

I honestly can't answer your question.  I don't work for ebay or have any affiliation with them apart from having a basic shop subscription.  It's clear to me that they're screwing UK business sellers for every penny they can.  That's a remedy for ebay UK though, not for small UK business sellers.

When I say back up I mean top up. I work full time but my salary no where near meets my priority bills. I rely on this as income

Every category is different. I know lots of people work really hard and there is a chunk of luck involved in things going well.  I appear to be having a bit of luck.  I've significantly evolved my offering over the last three years.  I've just managed to get back to my 2019 peek sales period for daily turnover.  I can fund Christmas presents for that extra child I acquired this year!

I'm not posting to goad - but to say that there are still customers around, its more challenging.  The areas that sell well on eBay have evolved.  Pricing in different areas changes, whilst I too remember the thrill of auctions and snipping plus just about anything I listed found a buyer and its own price point, that's not where things are now.  Terrapeak (or what ever its now referred to as) is a great tool for doing a bit of research and checking out the competition and seeing who is selling and trying to work out why.

I'm promoting more, marketing more, paying for more (marketing, customer support, packaging, legislative requirements etc etc)

Everyone has to run their own numbers and look at their own business model.  The doom and gloom of the platform has shrunk is fact based but its still a very, very big business and we only want a bit of a share of that turnover so we need to strive to find how to get to it, clear/ let go physically and emotionally our less successful buys.

I hope everyone manages to find/ generate their own bit of luck in the run up to Christmas and beyond.

Mate I can it’s dead,

iv sold odd things years ago I was selling 100’s of items a month. It’s a joke, iv no idea how eBay are still trading, and every item you sell is old to some one you know is going to claim it hasn’t been received or there’s something wrong.

in a word eBay is utter rubbish a waste of time

and effort. You may as well use fb sales.

20 years of my money and it turns out like this.

It’s good to know you are doing well, but you are paying heavily to make sales. It was never and should not be this regardless…

Its been clear across the boards that promoting doesn’t work for everyone… for me its a matter of principle….im not in this to make loads and  of course its different if its your family income. You have to do what it takes…

My items are more desires than needs and not aimed at a Xmas present market.

Heres hoping that things get better in the new year…time will tell
