Cash buyer lost

Potential customer wanted to view item before purchase and if agreeable pay cash.I told him that I couldnt accomodate that.He asked if he could buy via Ebay, then collect and pay cash.Again I had to refuse. Many buyers of my items,(many high value) like to inspect and collect, not trusting carriers.Or I can also deliver.

I always told them hit the buy button.I wont be trying to avoid Ebay their fees.Im happy to pay them.

Buyer didnt trust on line payment.I lost a £3400 sale.I realise its Ebays platform but  restricting someones business practices, who has been selling here 23 years is annoying to say the least.

I truly am so sorry you are experiencing this, and  all the other genuine business sellers who are experiencing difficult times. Surely eBay cannot hinder business sales? Is there anything you can do?  Your own website and advertise maybe? Or try a different platform?  @weald-audio

Edit - spelling.

items must be purchased and paid for through eBay checkout [except vehicles] before exchange of addresses etc.

Cash on collection is not allowed.

I do use other specialist sites. However, the plain fact is that Ebay generates far more traffic. Most of my turnover is not specifically searched.More a place to browse, and purchase. For that ebay works well.I just wish they would let me run MY business.Whats ever more infuriating Is that Ive NEVER ONCE tried to avoid payinf fees, apart from that one time I sold a chest of draws for £1 and it flagged up!

Cash on collection used to be allowed - eBay moved the goal posts again which seems detrimental to a " marketplace" for sales...especially for businesses.
