Sales down 37.6% compared to previous 7 days. Anyone know if there has been a problem with ebay the past 7 days? Any changes affecting sales as clearly there is some tech issue I am not aware of?

No to answer your question but Ditto here, very quiet
Have been working my account with 'best practices' with little success,
Putting it down to
A. Time of year, post Christmas bills and half term coming, usually drops off.
B. For us, some of our client base being hacked off with the recent changes, our customers were often Ebay sellers, so if they've been 'outraged' as many say they've been they not only have stopped selling on the platform but also stopped buying. Concerning as these sellers will just create listings on other platforms making the other platforms more attractive,
Always peaks and troughs on this platform, guessing tinkering might? be invlolved but nowt can be done with that.
Riding it out, same old story

It's grim here too.

Ebays buyers tax taking effect. Plus the small private sellers taking their listings and their money and going elsewhere.

Not sure if your a Private Seller but if you are it's probably down to the new "CON" "Buyer Protection Fee" being added to all private sales by Ebay, basically passing on or increasing their selling fees to buyers!

Sales have dropped dramatically since the introduction of the 'buyer protection fee'. Well done eBay for steering the ship onto the rocks...

Given that the OP has posted on the Business Seller board and has over 45,000 feedback, you can be pretty sure they are a business seller even without ,looking further.

I think you are right. Two of my recent attempted purchases failed because private sellers had sold elsewhere - both entirely unconcerned it would take days for me to get refunded. But there are other problems as well. I've recently also had 2 items so poor they went straight in the bin, one from a business seller not as described and one contaminated (long story). Ebay isn't cheap, is slow, and you can't keep returning stuff. I've stopped buying. Obviously, I'm one buyer so this is only anecdotal, but I'm an experienced ebayer of many years and if I've given up surely I can't be alone. 😞

You have a private account, while the BPF may be affecting your sales, they are unlikely to be affecting the OP's sales as that can only be by way of disgruntled private account holders withdrawing their buying from ebay.

I would guess at the removal of buyer's who had phones that run on OS9 or earlier after ebay switched that off. Many buyers are retired & presumably a multitude don't feel the need to keep upgrading their mobiles!

I was in Istanbul recently and asked a chap for a new phone cover and produced my phone.
He started laughing hysterically!!!

I agree, I think that was the last straw for many already grappling with the buyer tax etc.
Since Feb 4th only 2 sales and my 30 day views are starting to fall off a cliff.
Same on my private account, 2 sales since Jan 1st, adding the buyer tax messed all the prices up so I had to adjust them back so they look sensible but still nothing moving.
It’s dire on here.

I’m one a day now. Also had to pay eBay -36p. I’m shutting down for two weeks beginning of March. Will have a play around with my eBay account get rid of the items that haven’t sold etc. if I can be bothered to.!!

"adding the buyer tax messed all the prices up so I had to adjust them back so they look sensible"
Glad I am not the only one annoyed by the silliness of the odd prices produced by the BPF. I would much rather pay a seller final value fee than have to muck around adjusting the price to get a sensible buyer price. At the very least ebay should provide an option for the price entered to be the price the buyer sees rather than the price the seller receives.

A lot of mentions of the BPF but why nothing about the compulsory payment Hold for all private sellers?
Obviously ebay has thrown a spanner in works by diverting an awful lot of private seller's cash into its own bank account and turning off their money supply for 14 days.
There are already a few questions on SC from private sellers unaware that their money isn't going to appear in their bank account but, after the (up to) 14 day delay, it will still be kept by ebay but 'moved' to the seller's Wallet / ebay Balance. From there they can use it to buy or manually transfer it to their bank account (with the usual delay before it gets there).
14 days from the 4th means you might see some improvement from the 18th - 20th. But I wouldn't count on it, there are a lot of private sellers who are pi**ed - off ATM and will be moving their money off ebay ASAP. Do you really blame them?
If these new restrictions were applied to you, wouldn't you be doing exactly the same?
22-02-2025 1:27 PM
The most worrying aspect as far as I’m concerned is how long will it be before eBay imposes this on business sellers as well. At that stage I’m sure many would be voting with their feet.
I have just started selling on another platform and as a new seller I had to wait 14 days for my money and it’s painful because you still have an outlay while waiting postage packing materials and of course they snatch the fees straight away. If eBay decide to impose this on business sellers many of whom have to cover a shop fee it could make selling unviable

I may be in the minority but am actually thinking of ending my shop and listings on here the end of this month, I have spent all morning boosting my listings on another site.
Checking on business sellers on private accounts in my categories they still seem to be getting sales and all I get is emails about promoting... No thank you eBay!!
I am going to keep listing on my private account as I have some bits to clear out and if they don't sell I can always drop them off to the charity shop, I will continue to buy also, I buy lots of board games, books and jigsaws for the grandkids!
I don't like these changes at all, but between the BPF, holding funds and the app issues I am not surprised at the lack of sales.
22-02-2025 5:54 PM
Like you and many others were all hacked off with the 'blatant' private seller businesses, our category had private sellers prohibited last year yet the still strive, some are doing well some have had their accounts forced to businesses.
It takes time,
These changes will take time. some sellers weeks in are only noticing the changes, let it settle a while and judge accordingly., guessing the BPF fees can onky assist in your lower value ranges. You've grafted hard to get just under 10K 100% feedback, if the changes are economically not viable I understand your decision, but if your fed up with the system created and I know I get cheesed of with it, just ride it out if you can, or pause the slow inventory, stick with the earners.
Dont let the system knock you, do what works for you, its always changing and always will, monitor it for your best.
Hope you get where Im coming from

same here . Never known it to be this quiet. One sale today. But items renewed altogether and was in the Minus so had to replay eBay 36p.
22-02-2025 6:58 PM
Same here messages from eBay to pay to promote. I now earn little enough now. Sold a headband for £2.00 and eBay took the price of that.
money grabbers that’s all they are.
