Morning mate,
Got your christmas card card yesterday afternoon.:) So that makes it 10 days to arrive. Thank you for the Stamps mate:) Will come in handy:)
The Royal mail this year is an absolute disgrace! I am waiting to send a couple of bits via special delivery. I asked yesterday at post office and they are still NOT guarantee'ing special delivery!! Pathetic if you ask me.

To be honest mate, since I started collecting I have noticed a decline in the quality of Royal Mail service. I too got a Christmas card yesterday that I know for certain was sent before the 21st so it should have been with me for Christmas, or so they say. I know there has been delays recently due to weather an such but I have received other letters so why not that card??
It is so frustrating especially when there is very little you can do about it. It also make me wonder, when we think we have had no reply from someone is it more the fact it just hasnt been delivered to us or that our request didnt get to them?

TALKING TO MY POSTIE YESTERDAY AND HE SAYS HE IS DELIVERING MAIL FROM DAYS AGO, DUE TO THE TERRIBLE WEATHER HUGE BACKLOG OF MAIL, JUST KEEPING FINGERS CROSSED SOME STARTS COMING THOUGH.

Our postman says there is a back log at the big depots of nearly 4 million letters and parcels still waiting to be delivered so that where all the replys are 😞

I haven't seen a postman since before xmas, can't believe that its because I have no post, maybe they just don't have the cover with holidays and sickness etc
30-12-2010 6:15 PM
preference was given to parcels so xmas pressies arrived in time for xmas,so cards/letters will be later, thats from a sorting office boss...who lets me in the back door out of hours.
that sounds rude, but you get the drift.

This is a taste of things to come as the Royal Mail keep cutting back on staff and in the end its the consumer who always looses every time.
This Government won't be happy until everything is sold off.

There's no backlog at our sorting office although some of the larger offices are sending the mail up....I think it's time Royal Mail was privatised now to many managers not knowing how to do their jobs properly ...they need weeding out
31-12-2010 10:59 AM
must agree with you jane, privatisation cant be any worse,at least then, there is a chance that we can get to some sort of a decent service again

#12 that should read not sending mail up...whoops

Privatisation of the Royal Mail would only send the cost of using the service through the roof.
You only have to look what's happened to the Utilities and Train Companies since privatisation, hundreds of different confusing prices for the same service, very expensive to use, and way above inflation increases year on year.
Has the service improved for the consumer from the Utility or Train companies ?, I personally don't think it as. One thing is for sure the prices for these services have rocked in recent years and keep doing so.
Just be careful what you wish for, all the very best to all forum members.
Happy New Year
Adrian.

i only see it in a customers perspective,i remember when royal mail deliveries were twice a day,and first class letters could almost be guaranteed to reach its destination anywhere in the uk next day,it is true that prices might go up with privatisation, but i would be willing to pay extra for a improved service, the prices have been going up steadily anyway with royal mail, and yet the service is getting worse, the last price increase was annouced just a few weeks ago, another 5p i think on a first class stamp

#15 🙂 Daz I agree I'd rather pay more for an improved service....Most of the guys are really p***** off at work the management are to blame dont know what they're doing and all two faced...the guys are being told one thing and the next day it's changed to something else...somebody needs to grab it by the balls and sort it out..it's probably the best postal service in the world but leave it any longer and it wont be....
