Sounds like a whitlow. No harm in getting a pin, hold it in a naked flame, and then prick the infected area to release the pressure and then using tea tree.

Either that or go to A&E and let them lance it for you, if you are a good boy they might even give you a lolly.

I agree with the bread poltis, work a treat but if you get it hot enough it hurts like hell.  Try to keep it elevated a bit mate, that might help with the throbbing and pain.
