might have to make the group public,in the hope of getting more interested members who will contribute,,only two posts today,worst ive ever seen it there are welcome improvements with this new format,however a big downer is that i can no longer send the whole group messages,i have a feeling there are a few out there who cant work out how to get into the group,and probably just given up trying,anyway will wait a few more days before any change in group status

Being public will not  change the lack of posts. It is holiday season right now - always a quiet time. Going public will just mean larger numbers of lurkers. There is nothing wrong with this group. It is the same as every group since the dawn of the internet and the same as every group that is still going - it always ends up with a core group of active members that care and want to share. The majority of people who collect/sell don't givea toss about fellow collectors. Do you really want them on board?

I'd prefer the group private. If it goes public alot of the photos will end up on google images, then you get people copying them and using them on sites like ebay to rip people off.  Another reason why there hasn't been many posts might be because people can't log on - just took me over an hour - was getting an error message every time I tried.

Also, if the group went public, all content would be spidered by search engines. As leader and moderator Daz, you would need to be very sure any content was not defamatory.

It has been pretty quiet but, as Nigel says, it's holiday season and things tend to drop off a bit. Now the footie season has started, I expect we'll get a few more posts. The amount of people posting seemed to stay the same even before ebay changed the system. And I agree with the problem of people swiping pics and using them for their own personal gain.

I know i have not been able too contribute as much as i would like too and find it hard always answering everybody else posts but im still here and im sure i will get back in the saddle soon i do have a couple out and will post when they come back.

I do think the group is better off private ,i do find the new set up good but not brilliant and needs a bit of tweeking i struggle getting photo's up and its frustating for me as i do have a few things too share that i have picked up at bootsales but as i cannot figure out the photo's so i give up in the end because i end up either deleting the post or having too re write what i have said.

I[ve basically been away because it's holiday season and I've been busy so not writing any letters and sadly not getting any replies. Hopefully that will change now as I've written a letter today! 🙂

I think it's better staying private Daz.Unfortunately I've been busier lately and not been able to post as much (think I've only managed to join in once this week) and whilst it's just the core members still posting I feel it's better that way.

I've been away for a few days so I am just catching up on everything now . I have to agree with the majority of members there will be no advantage going public I'm glad you had second thoughts Daz .
