Here is signed book No 3 that I found on Friday, A signed hardbacked first edition copy from 2001 of Nicholas Jones book titled "The Control Freaks" How New Labour got it's own way.The inscription says " To Eileen with my very best wishes Nicholas Jones 2003" Found this one in the Hyndburn Blind society shop where all books are a £1 unless marked. Nice addition to the collection.

On a day out on Wednesday, I looked for sigs in the charity shops and found nowt. I bought this book because I like Dudley Moore. I didn't notice it at the time of buying.http://img580.imageshack.us/img580/8081/dm1x.jpghttp://img3.imageshack.us/img3/5993/dm2xa.jpg

Some great finds there this weekend Alex. Dudley Moore is a favourite of ours as well. When he passed away it was one of the very, very rare occasions we bought a signed photo after a celeb's passing. Bet it's a good read.

Well here it is Nigel and Co.
No 4 signed book I found on Friday, This was the most expensive one at £2.25 from the British Heart Foundation charity shop. A signed hardbacked first edition from 2002 by the greatest manager never to manage the England team...Yes Brian Clough's " Cloughie..Walking on water..My Life". It even has "Be Good, Brian Clough" As a player he had a goal scoring record second to none but injury cut short his playing career, He played 213 times for Middlebrough scoring 197 goals then played 61 games for Sunderland scoring 54 goals. He also played twice for England. Brian Howard Clough OBE (21 March 1935 – 20 September 2004) was an English footballer and subsequently football manager, most notable for his success with Derby County and Nottingham Forest, and his 44 day reign at Leeds United. His achievement of winning back-to-back European Cups with Nottingham Forest, a moderate provincial English club, is considered to be one of the greatest in football history. Excellent addition to any football book collection. Pleased to have got to this first.

Only a small find and not even in a charit shop, but almost.
I managed to pick up a signed Herol 'Bommer' Graham book in my local Sainsburys Homebase.
On the exit there is a table for people to donate books and if anyone else want to buy them, then it costs £1, which goes in a charity box.
Good idea

wow Alex amazing find,Dad is from nottingham used to take me in the cloughie days drop me off down front with all the other kids, saying that did have to spend two hours before the game kicking my heals with a bottle of pop and a packet of crisps while my dad was in the pub with his mates used to stick my fingers up at the away coaches lol

Brian Clough has to be the cherry on top of your finds, Alex. That's a belter.
Also, as much as I would have liked a sig from Peter Cook, the author is Peter CORK. I did a double take when I saw it.

#97 Unlucky.
But a signed book is a signed book...Chuffed with the Brian Clough signed book...One of my better finds, Probably my best ever was a signed book by Tiger Wood's father Earl woods. He passed away in May 2006. That was a pound from the "Only Foals and horses" chariy shop. Amazing what people donate to these places.
