Worth every penny of the £1.49 spent on this

My 2nd find from yesterday, All of £1,49 from a local charity shop. Book is titled "Chatsworth The House"

The home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. Signed on the inside page by The Duchess Deborah Devonshire. First edition copy from 2002 and priced at £29.99 then. Big, huge  chunky book with fantastic colour photo's of the Estate inside and out.

Deborah Vivien Cavendish, Dowager Duchess of Devonshire DCVO (born 31 March 1920), née The Hon. Deborah Freeman-Mitford, is the youngest and last surviving of the six noted Mitford sisters whose political affiliations and marriages were a prominent feature of English culture in the 1930's and 1940's. She was born in Asthall Manor, Oxfordshire, England.

Chatsworth is home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, and has been passed down through 16 generations of the Cavendish family. The house architecture and collection have been evolving for five centuries.

The house has over 30 rooms to explore*, from the magnificent Painted Hall, regal State Rooms, newly restored Sketch Galleries and beautiful Sculpture Gallery. In the Guest Bedrooms, meet an Edwardian Lady's Maid who will be revealing the secrets of her mistress's suitcase of clothes, or dress up in one of our period costumes.

Chatsworth has one of Europe's most significant art collections. The diverse collection has grown with each generation to live here, and the Devonshire Collection encompasses Old Masters, contemporary ceramics, artefacts from Ancient Egypt, modern sculpture and computer portraits to name but a few. The Old Master Drawings Cabinet opened in 2012 to showcase selections from over 2000 pieces within the collection, many of which have not been publicly displayed within living memory.

pmsl Mate, i am there all the time at the moment, lot of refurbishment being done, i turned up one morning at 7.00am to make a delivery to SBS but they were not on site yet. So took it upon myself to have a wonder around the magnificent gardens, waterfall and herb borders. Then i spotted a couple, and blow me it was the duke and dutchess ha ha ha 😄 they were lovely, and asked how i was and what i was delivering etc. Never thought to ask for graphs though 🙂

Really nice find my friend. well done 🙂

Lovely find Alex. Large format books like that are gems to find signed in charity shops as they are not practical at all for ttm requests unless it is someone ultra special you can justfy an arm and a leg on postage for. She is quite a character and written a few books. I bet it is packed with great images - the house has a lot of history.
