A cracking day in the post.
Starting with a purchase. Pre-ordered a signed copy of Jools Holland's new cd. Shame it is only a first name sig, but still a nice cd to have.
Last week I reported on the expected prepring from Matthew Fox. An in person collecting friend took pity on me, and asked me to reprint my 11.5x8.5 picture and send it to them. They very kindly got my photo signed in person by Matthew last Friday night, and by all accounts, this one of his better sigs as some only got initials.
Now on to today's four ttm successes -
Mark Griffin - 35 days
Mark kindly signed my 4x6 Doctor Who photo and record card.
Nick Berry - 18 days
Nick kindly became the fourth person to sign their profile page in my 1986 EE Special. Previously signed by Anita Dobson, Bill Treacher and June Brown.
Martin Patching - 14 days
Martin very kindly signed my 8x5 Watford card, 4x6 photo and sent me a great letter in which he teases me with some goodies when I write back with my book.
Martin was a big favourite of mine back in his day. His final game before returning due to injury resulted in a most spectacular goal against Liverpool in a win that sealed runners up place in the old top flight (1982/83 season). A really emotional day for the club and Martin in particular.
Martin's reply also gave me my 200th different signed 8x5 Watford card. Now for the next 100. 🙂
Pete Murray, OBE
This was a great success for me. I had picked up HB 1/1 of Pete's brilliant autobiography from 1975 - One Day I'll Forget My Trousers, and while looking for an address to send to discovered he was making his final ever public appearance at a Kaleidoscope event this Saturday just gone (raising money for the RNLI) along with some other old djs. Pete is now 85, so no surprise he is calling it a day with public appearances.
I contacted the organiser and asked if I could send my book in for signing by Pete in return for a small donation to the RNLI. He agreed to this, and not only did I get my book back signed which I am chuffed with, but the organiser kindly got me an event sheet signed by all the guests - Junior Campbell (former member of the band Marmalade), Pete Murray, David Hamilton, Mike Read, and Ed Stewart. A smashing success.
