The john ireland book is back after a LONG TIME i sent it out to CHARLES HILLS A RETIRED TRAINER about five weeks ago after a number of e mails no sign of the book at his stables in lambourn THEN it turns up am pleased some very old trainers signed all ready it will be on its travils again very soon
am i bit suspect of the sig for a 75 year old man he signs VERY TIDY ?

the old timers have beautiful handwriting too,the education system in that regard must have been more thorough during there time at school,,nice reply richard

Yes Alan Barry Hills he as twins sons as well from his first marriage both are jockeys Charles now runs the stables I believe

Good to see the book again, Richard. I wouldn't be worried about the neatness of the sig. As has been said, the older generation often have lovely writing.

Lovely addition the book. As others have said, the ladies and gents of a different generation past had better standards of handwriting. As long as the elderly signers do not develop the shakes, they retain the most beautiful handwriting in many cases.
