Slow and Quiet

Is it me or does the forum seem really slow and quiet of late I know its holiday time but just seems like not much happening at the minute?

It has been quiet hasn't it. It'll probably pick up now the footie season has started again.

I agree Rob. Does seem slow at the moment. Holiday time does not help but that said, not much happening. Sure it will pick up in the next few weeks with the new football season here now.

I think with it being nice ish weather and light nights still that people probably just don't fancy writing letters at the moment.

I managed to get 6 or 7 books sent out over the last 3 weeks..2 already back...these are the first requests I have sent out in the last 2 months....only sent 5 in June...one reply back from those.

Things will pick up..we shouldn't have to rely on the new football season to see things pick up..plenty of others out there to write to.

Know what you mean Rob ive noticed its been like this for around 4/5 weeks, ive not really been sending much as waiting for the season to start so hopefully in the next few weeks i will get some mail out and can start IP again! 🙂

Apathy in the hobby hits all ttm autograph collector forums over time. Many try it, but do not have the patience to wait for replies, and want every address handed to them on a plate. When they realise that they only get back what they put into it, they get fedup, move on and flog what they have collected on ebay.

I generally find that even though some times of year go quiet for replies, it balances out over time, and many replies do come back. That's why patience is a key part of the hobby. Many international requests will also take much longer. Waiting years for some replies is common.

I sent out 26 requests in July, and had 22 replies. Of those 22, some were quick (2 to 7 days) but others were older requests dating back to up to a year. That's what I mean by balancing out over time.

I get back what I put into it, and find the hobby as exciting today as when I started over 11 years ago.

you think its slow on here ,you want to check out some of the other forums,blame ebay for that,,i think the problem is that most of the time the regulars,or what i would call the contribute 99 per cent of the activity ,when that activity hits a lull,such as now ,which is in evitable,,the other dead wood or  waste of space lurkers,dont step in and fill this lull,,its unfortunate ,but sadly a fact,,however looking on the bright side,,this is still the busiest forum on ebay:-)

I agree with Daz, this is still a lively ttm forum compared to others, and has a great core of collectors who have built up many friendships.

Bearing in mind the number of people who have registered, and the audience of people available through eBay, it is strange more people do not stick with it. In this day and age of money woes, it can be a low cost hobby with much fun and excitement. Plus being part of a community of like minded people who share info/success has many benefits.

I do predict more successes will be posted as the footy people start replying again. Then winter brings the panto season which is always fun.

Agree with Darren and thehornets.  Of course our postings are governed by the celebs themselves.  If they respond, then there will be postings.  If they don't, we are left with nothing to post and wait upon them.

I agree with everyone so far,been a bit quiet,but good to see the regulars still taking part.Have sent a few letters out lately but not as many as usual as busy with work.Have the next two weeks off so will send out a few more.
