RIP Sean Fallon Celtic legend

Celtic legend Sean Fallon passed away peacefully this morning (Friday, January 18) surrounded by his family.

A husband, father, grandfather and friend, Sean was also a faithful Celt who played over 200 games for his beloved Hoops during the 1950s, before taking a role as assistant manager alongside the great Jock Stein in the '60s, playing his part in our greatest ever triumph in Lisbon in 1967.

Sean is also credited with bringing an abundance of talented young players into the Celtic set-up, including Tommy Gemmell, Danny McGrain, Kenny Dalglish, Davie Hay,Lou Macari and Pat Bonner, who all went on to achieve great things with the club.

It was fitting that in this – our 125th anniversary year – Sean was the man who unfurled the league flag on our opening day of the season back in August of last year. The reception from the fans that afternoon tells you everything you need to know about how highly ‘The Iron Man’ was regarded by the Celtic support.
