I went over to York on the 6th of April where Stanley played and  scored a last gasp last minute (94th) Goal to make the score 1-1 and salvage a point in our relegation battle against Nigel's team. We certainly played our get out of jail free card that day, awful we were and York did not deserve to lose 2 valuable points that day. I explained this in my letter and told Nigel that with the crowd behind them  and the spirit in the team that day they would be playing league 2 football next season along with Stanley...and they are. I sent the match day programme over to Nigel on the 15th of April along with a couple of index cards. Today the programme and cards have been returned signed by the Ex Northern Ireland international. I did ask if he could also get a few of the squad who played in the game to sign.....and he did....19 of them! Top Bloke, Top Team and look forward to meeting him next season at the home game.

Nigel Worthington (born 4 November 1961) is a Northern Irish former footballer who is the current manager of York City. He played a defender and a midfielder, playing his club football for Ballymena United, Notts County, Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds United, Stoke City and Blackpool. With Sheffield Wednesday he won the League Cup in 1991. As an international player, he was capped 66 times for Northern Ireland, and appeared for them at the 1986 FIFA World Cup.

Thats a cracking result from the Norwich City Legend Alex, got the index card this morning so a BIG thanks for that buddy it will sit in my Norwich City index card collection!

Nigel is a top bloke and that was very kind of him to get some of the squad in the programme for you to.
