Ken Dodd - 34 days c/o Embassy Theatre, Skegness

Doddy is a favourite of mine since my early childhood watching the Diddymen, and I have written to him before. One of the great family entertainers from an era that has been sadly whitewashed from modern television and is greatly missed. I sent him one of my 4x6 Doctor Who photos, and it was returned signed and dedicated with a signed letter in my reply envelope. Also in the post was a 2nd envelope as mentioned in Doddy's letter to me which contained a signed theatre brochure he generously sent to me. That was really nice of him and totally unexpected. I shall be writing a thank you letter this evening.

Nigel thats a fantastic reply ....he's such a nice man my mum went to see him a few years ago and his concerts always ran over by hours the drivers of the coaches use to go mad and the venue managers always had to ask him to finish he never wanted to get off the stage....and I loved him singing when he sang the soppy songs....well done I really really loved this....

Jane - I'm not surprised, he really is a nice man. When I first wrote to him in 2002 I asked him if any dvds of the Diddy Men were available or due to be released as I was curious to see if Mandy (our daughter - autistic/learning difficulties) would get on with them. Not only did he sign our pic, but he sent another pic with a signed doodle and dedication for our daughter, plus an audio cassette of the Diddy Men for her. Here's the doodle he did for her -

Superb reply Nigel. I used to watch the Diddy man, Dicky Mint, Mick the Marmalizer, Little Evan, Hamish McDiddy, Nigel Ponsonby-Smallpiece, Nicky Nugget, Sid Short and Smarty Arty. Well done .
