Hiya Guys and Jane:)
Today i found myself up in Geordie land, so i decided to go and visit Mr Jack Charlton:) I arrived at his driveway at 8.40 this morning and drove along the extremely well kept verged drive until i came to a group of very very nice cottages. I had no idea which one it was but on looking on one particular windowsill i noticed an ornament of a man fly fishing. This has to be the one.:)
I went around to the front door and rang the bell. A lady came to the door and asked what i would like. I said "Is Mr Charlton at home please?" She said "No, Sorry. He left about 20 mins ago, to go fishing". I then remembered hearing on the radio that today is the first day of the new season for trout fishing.
I said, i had come up from Lincoln to ask if he would sign my 66 photo and a couple of programmes, as i did not want to risk it in the post. She looked at the photo and said "I dont blame you" "Jack will be back at 2 if you want to call back?, i know he has gone on the Tyne but i have no idea where abouts" I cant i said, i have to get back home" I said "would it be ok to leave the programmes"? She said "Of course it is" and she went inside and came back with a large white envelope" Pop them in there and write your address on the front and when he comes home i will ask him to sign them for you:) " I gave her a stamp to put on the envelope and we bode each other farewell. A lovely lady, and helpful too.
So this will be a part knock knock, and part ttm:)
Big thank you to Mrs Charlton:)
