Horrible, horrible stuff!!

We have snow here in Hull, I have to say, I hate the stuff!  Cold, wet, slippery and pointless.

Anyone else got it?

Re: Horrible, horrible stuff!!

The snow arrived in north Kent during the night but, it has thawed to a mushy slush. Still a few showers but it's not settling. Still ruddy cold though.

Re: Horrible, horrible stuff!!

Had our first snow in MK overnight. Still had to deliver the milk. Took me an extra hour & a half to do the delivery! Cold now though and looks like its starting to freeze. Going to be a hard, cold and frosty night for me !!

Sy, that looks like youve had a similar amount to what we have had. It is between ankle and knee height in some places here. Keep almost going on my arse lol

Re: Horrible, horrible stuff!!

The end of another cold day in Hull.

The snow is still falling here and is getting colder, it is minus 5 now so God only knows what it will be during the night.
It has become so bad now that East Yorkshire Bus Service and Stagecoach Bus Service (Basically all the buses in Hull) have totally cancled all bus runs around and out of the city tonight. They stopped the services around 6pm as it has now become too dangerous for the buses to run.  I feel sorry for the poor souls who are stuck in the city center either finishing work or those who are doing some late night Christmas shopping.
It seems that the city of Hull is slowly grinding to a hault and for a city that is usually always on the move and very busy it is strange to see it so still and quiet.
All I am wondering now is when all this snow decides to thaw, will we be the victims of flooding again? Hopefully it will thaw slowly enough for the drainage system to be able to keep up - we still have Victorian sewers in some parts of the city.

Had our first bit of snow in Plymouth overnight, about 1cm in places! By the afternoon all gone and at around  -4,quite warm.
Still haven't had any TTMs for ages though!

Re: Horrible, horrible stuff!!

Temperature dropping further today. I have read that we could expect -15 overnight to leave us with frozen snow and slush underfoot.  The bus services are cancelled again and, like last night, people are stuck in the city centre trying to get home.
Cars are getting more and more stuck and people are having to abandon their cars where they are - regardless of where they are too.
I have heard that this could last for a good couple of weeks yet in this area, so, the future as it may be, may not be so bright for a while.

Re: Horrible, horrible stuff!!

Something I have noticed,  or rather not noticed as it happens.  I have not seen a single council road gritter in the area!  Are the gritters operating anywhere?
