I picked up a couple of football related books from a charity shop a month or so ago, Dust covers a little tobacco stained ( these dont get sent) but the books are ok...after the febreze treatment. Anyway first one back from Gordon Banks OBE sent Via Stoke city.
Sent the book "Banks of England" on the 8th of August. Gordon has signed and dedicated with the words "Good Luck" thrown in...Bobby Charlton adds these sometimes.
Gordon Banks, OBE (born 30 December 1937) is a retired English football goalkeeper. The IFFHS named Banks the second best goalkeeper of the 20th Century — after Lev Yashin (1st) and ahead of Dino Zoff (3rd).
Banks was a member of the England national team that won the 1966 World Cup. In March 2004 Pelé listed Banks as one of the 125 greatest living footballers His most famous moment occurred in the 1970 World Cup against Brazil, where he pulled off a stunning save from a goalbound header from Pelé, which is often regarded as arguably the greatest save ever. Another for the boys of '66 signed book collection. Gordon Banks One of the boys from '66 Thank you again.

Brilliant reply my friend:) It's a shame that some folk don't look after there books and get tobacco smoke stains. I had one myself the other week, and i found that a bit of Deodorant on some tissue and some gentle rubbing fetches it off:)

That's a nice success Alex - my first true football hero. Still treasure meeting him at his book signing a few years ago.
One of the reasons so many books get offered cheap in charity shops is due to the amount of crap on dust jackets, but as Alex has said, a little bit of tlc and hey presto, one nice looking book. I bag my books, so make sure any that are found are cleaned before they can be bagged.
