I am really chuffed with today's replies. Made my day seeing this lot - it's been a tough week, so this was a great pickmeup. Two of my replies will be met with special thank yous to the people concerned this weekend.

Neil Redfearn - 4 days

Neil kindly signed the HB 1st of his bio I sent him. I picked the book up in a charity shop for £1. This is the second time I have written to Neil. He signed one of my Watford cards for me a few years ago.

Doctor & The Medics (4 members of the classic lineup) - 119 days

The Medics are one of my all time favourite bands. I used to go and see them live regularly, and occasionally went to the after gig parties. They were brilliant days. The current Medics lineup only has the Doctor and Collette from the old days, and is a different form of entertainment totally, nothing like the old days. I stumbled across their new website at the end of last November, and got in touch with the Doc. We had quite a chat. He was excited as they do not see or hear from many of their original fans, so it was fun reminiscing. I asked if it would be possible to get one of my old 7" sleeves signed by him and Collette. He has lost touch with many original band members, but offered to get it signed by Wendy, and said Collette might know how to get in touch with Steve McGuire. He got me to pass it to him via a London contact as he was going to be in London before Christmas. He also invited me to contact him by email if I can ever get to one of their gigs and he will put me on the guest list, so we can catch up on old times over a few drinks.

Today's post brought the sleeve back signed by the Doc, Collette, Wendy and Steve. Really chuffed with this. It also authenticates a signed 12" I bought cheap via an auction on yahoo in 1999 that is signed by six including these four. Sorry for the ramble, but this was really exciting for me. I will be contacting the Doc with my thanks.

Dave Bewley - 11 days

Another really special reply for me. I have been sending out quite a few Watford requests this year, but this is by far the oldest player I have written to so far. I found a beautiful news article about Dave and his wife celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary, so it prompted me to find out where he lived and write to him. He is 90 years old (91 in September), and still seems very sharp from his reply. As well as signing my Watford card and team pic, he sent a wonderful letter and invite which I will try to honour some time in the near future. I will be writing to Dave this weekend to thank him.

Dave played as a full back for Watford between 1953 and 1956 at the end of his playing career. He had two spells with Fulham and one with Reading, but played most games for Watford, scoring one goal.

Also, many thanks to whitty. I bought four of his EE cards. Three replace cards I used to have in my original collection that was sold in 2007, but best of all, I landed a scarce signed Dean Gaffney card which I have never had before, so very pleased. Thanks again Mark, and thrilled you did so well.
