Failure via Charity Shop

For a short while I was in happy dance mode, and messaged a couple of people, then got suspicious as I noticed the sig was very neat, so checked isitreal.com. Sure enough, the bugger was a secretarial sig. Good for reference though, and another valuable reminder to authenticate everything carefully if not obtained in person.

The book is a UK HB 1st edition from 1980.

I'm not suprised you were in happy dance mode for a while Nigel...Sites like Isitreal are very valuable when it comes to things like this...A shame that mate.

It's also possible someone posted the book to him for signing, and his staff/agency/whoever got to it. People were ttming long before the internet.

It was only a £2 purchase, so no biggie.

It was good luck - with other recent posts on here it served as a timely reminder that everyone should check the autographs that come their way very carefully, unless obtaining them in person.
