Ex Aston Villa captain & European Cup Winner Dennis Mortimer

Last Friday I wrote to the ex-Aston Villa captain Dennis Mortimer via a private residential address and got my reply back today ( 4 days later).

Dennis Mortimer was the captain of the Aston Villa team who won the European Cup after beating Bayern Munich 1-0 in the final in Rotterdam back in 1982. The photo show Dennis lifting the European Cup, pleased with this very quick turn around.

Cracking result Aston villa have won the league 7 times 1st time in 1893/94 season and the last time was the 80/81 season but like most clubs now the prem seems too be a 4 horse race most of the time so apart from finishing 2nd in 92/93 its not like the old league when in form teams still had too battle hard for a title .
