Eric Gates-ex Ipswich Town success....

Sent my home & away 1981 UEFA Cup final programmes, photo and index cards to Eric Gates via private address on 4/3 received all back signed on 24/3. Really pleased! Programmes already signed by Russell Osman.

Eric Gates was a forward who played for Ipswich Town between 1973-85 making 345 appearances, scoring 96 goals. He was a member of the side that won the UEFA Cup in 1981 and the FA Cup in 1978, although he did not play in the final at Wembley.

In 1985 he moved to Sunderland, making 192 appearances, scoring 53 times in a five year spell at the club. In 1990 he moved to Carlisle Utd where he played 38 times scoring 8 times in a one year spell. He retired from football in 1991.

In 1980 he made 2 appearances for England.

After retiring he worked in radio and is a popular after-dinner speaker.
