Sent Stoke team pic, programme, two photos, three index cards and two club crest cards to Denis Smith via Stoke City on 21/2 received all back signed on sat 26th. Very pleased.
Denis Smith was a defender who played 493 times for Stoke City scoring over 40 goals in a 14 year career between 1968-82. He was part of the side that won the League Cup in 1972 beating Chelsea 2-1 in the final at Wembley. During his time at The Potters he broke his leg 5 times, his nose 4 times, a cracked ankle, broken collar bone, chipped spine, breaking most of his fingers and toes and needing more than a hundred stiches. Now thats what you call someone who goes in where it hurts!!
In 1982 he moved to York City as player-manager where he played for one season, playing 37 games and scoring 5 goals. At the end of the 1982-83 season he retired from playing.
He then went into management with York City 1982-87, Sunderland 1987-91, Bristol City 1992-93, Oxford Utd 1993-97, WBA 1998-99, Oxford Utd 2000 and Wrexham 2001-2007.
Denis is the eighth player to sign the Stoke team photo.

SUPERB RESULT. NOW THIS MAN COULD SHOW THE MODERN PLAYERS HOW TO GET ON WITH THE GAME. I'LL BET HE NEVER LOST ANY TRAINING OR GAMES WITH HIS METATARSIL, A REAL LEGND OF THE GAME IS DENIS SMITH.
